Corneal Transplant

The cornea or clear outer lens located on the front of the eye sometimes requires transplantation from a donor to correct problems such as thinning of the cornea, corneas scarring, severe infection which causes permanent damage and vision loss due to clouding of the cornea.

Corneal transplantation is one of the most common transplants performed and is most often times performed on an outpatient basis.

You should recover from the procedure within 1 year but you may need to use glasses or contacts to get the best results and see more normally. Laser correction is possible only after the transplant is determined to be a success and is fully healed.
