Aleksandra Michalik, D.O.

Aleksandra Michalik, D.O. graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Nutrition. She received her medical degree, with honors, from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Michalik did her ophthalmology residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in NY, after which she completed her glaucoma fellowship at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) in Madison, WI.

Dr. Michalik’s interest in glaucoma stems from working and conducting research with Dr. Jeffrey Freedman who, along with the original creator Dr. Molteno, helped pioneer the use of the first implantable device for the surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Michalik continued research with Dr. Yao Liu at UWSMPH and participated in the Phase III Clinical Study of Rocklatan, a new glaucoma medication. She has lectured and presented research findings at multiple conferences, peer-reviewed studies and published glaucoma reviews with Dr. Paul Kaufman. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Michalik is a proponent of continuing research, innovation, and optimization of techniques in ophthalmology and, in particular, glaucoma. Dr. Michalik believes in developing trusting relationships with her patients and in working together, as a team, to optimize her patients’ eyesight and eye health based on their individual needs.

Dr. Michalik’s interests outside of work are outdoor activities and sports, traveling, art, nutrition, devoting time to family and friends, and maintaining an overall healthy and balanced lifestyle.
